Something to look forward to…

Close on the heels of reading a good book, watching a great film is up there amongst my absolute favourite things to do. Looking at this autumn’s upcoming releases of film adaptations, then, fills me with joy! There are some delicious ones coming up, just look at this list!

Hollywood superstars Robert Redford and Jane Fonda in Our Souls at Night based on Kent Haruf’s wonderful story about a man and woman in their 70s falling in love. Jane was enthralled by the book. Read her review here and see the film when it comes out on Netflix on 29th September.

Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbø’s chilling The Snowman premieres on 20th October with the talented Michael Fassbender in the lead role as inspector Hole. The trailer looks terrifying, see it if you dare! (And, added bonus, you can see in in a real cinema!)

Alias Grace is another of genius writer Margaret Atwood’s most successful books. Streaming service Hulu, producer of the adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, just won an Emmy for that series. Let’s see if Netflix can do magic as well. (3rd November).

We never tire of a good Agatha Christie adaptation, do we? I love the original 1974 adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express with Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall and Albert Finney. Can Kenneth Branagh top it with Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and Willem Dafoe? I’m certainly going to find out. (In cinemas from 10th November.)

My children loved R.J. Palacio’s Wonder, the story of a boy with a facial deformity who, after years of home schooling, starts real school. Full of positive messages about empathy this will be one to bring your kids to. (In cinemas from 17th November).

There are plenty more…Stephen King, Truman Capote, Joan Didion. Find out on Signature.
