Great news for fans of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book Americanah, amongst whom I count myself.

Brad Pitt is producing the film version of the novel and has cast the beautiful Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o as the heroine Ifemelu. Lupita played a very impressive but extremely small role (not sure how she managed to walk away with an Oscar for it, but hey…) part as a slave girl in Steve McQueen’s stunning film 12 Years A Slave. Let’s hope it turns out better than the badly reviewed film version of Adichie’s previous book Half of a Yellow Sun. With Brad Pitt at the helm the odds should be good.
