4th book in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Series to be published

The Girl in the Spider’s Web, the 4th book in Stieg Larsson’s phenomenally successful Millennium Series (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, The Girl Who Played with Fire) is coming out on the 27th of August, only this time the book is not written by Larsson who died in 2004. Larsson’s publisher, unable to resist another bonanza (The Millennium Series have sold 80 million copies!), has commissioned David Lagercrantz, a Swedish author and biographer, to write a sequel based on Larsson’s characters and universe. Smells fishy to me…

Meanwhile, Larsson’s partner of 32 years, Eva Gabrielsson, sits on the unfinished draft of the actual 4th novel written by the man himself.  In a bizzare twist of fate, Larsson’s family were granted full rights to the estate while Gabrielsson got nothing following his death. Larsson and Gabrielsson never formally registered as co-habitants because of the death threats that Larsson received from Neo-Nazi groups (he was a vocal opponent of fascism) and Gabrielsson therefore had no legal rights. Needless to say, Gabrielsson is none to keen on the David Lagercrantz version.
