Things to look forward to…

Coming soon… Murakami, Waters, Mitchell and McEwan.

My top picks from the list of upcoming releases. Pre-order now and be amongst the first to read them!

Haruki Murakami’s  Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage published on the 12th August. About a boy whose friends suddenly desert him. One million copies sold in the first week in Japan. I will do anything to get my hands on a copy of this book. Murakami’s last novel, 1Q84 was 1300 pages of pure bliss. Couldn’t stop reading.

Sarah Waters’ The Paying Guests will be published on the 28th August. A story set in a tense post World War I London about a family that have to take in lodgers to make ends meet. It has been many years since I read a book by Waters, but Tipping the Velvet still lingers in my mind so I will be trying this one.

David Mitchell’s The Bone Clocks published on the 4th September. A teenage girl runs away from home and into a life of mysterious events. As you know, I am a huge David Mitchell fan (see review of his last book). I, for one, will scratching the door of my bookshop on the 4th.

Ian McEwan’s The Children Act published on the 4th September. Hugely anticipated book from an author that I think can be a bit uneven, but I am definitively reading it. This time McEwan takes on religion, and parents who refuse treatment of their children on religious grounds.

All these books can be pre-ordered on Amazon.co.ukWaterstone’s, Daunt, Lutyens & Rubinstein or from your local bookshop.
